As I was searching for Los Angeles hotels the other day I found that my rankings were pushed down a quarter of the page due to the new integration of local results. From the Google blog they state how excited they are to make it easier for users to find and compare local services and businesses from the SERP’s.
To me, it seems like it is a good step in the right direction but it not only takes away from the traffic we receive but from the traffic they receive to their own Adwords ads.
I have not spent too much time in researching these results but I have found that they will integrate information not only from the businesses website but from sites like mine and from Google maps.
The question left is how do I get my site to show results for these listings? I am assuming that the results have their own algorithm and specifications for ranking purposes and know that you can integrate multiple business listings using Google Base. From my initial research it seems as though the results can be inaccurate at times.
For example, at the time of this post when searching “San Antonio hotels” you will see listing C “Crowne Plaza Resort” referencing the AdamsMark.com site. Not only is that incorrect but if you click on “Get Directions” the address is incorrect as well.
Search for a restaurant or hotel in your city and you can see yourself.
