I read a post @ SEO By The See that was very interesting. On January 4, 2007, Microsoft filed for a patent application entitled “Searching for content using voice search queries.” Apparently Microsoft is looking to offer a service in which a user dials a number (unknown yet) and tells Microsoft what they are looking for. Apparently the system may be able to know a users location through GPS or cell tower triangulation. Microsoft then displays search results, SMS, or IM on your cell phones browser with all the details you need. Here is an image which was referenced on SEO By The Sea.

Back in April of 2006 Google filed for their own patent on voice search so it will be interesting to see how similar they are…

Should they actually win over mobile users, it might take away from what people are trying to do with their mobile domains and those who spend thousands on .mobi domains. Then again, it’s all about grabbing a piece of the pie!
